Volunteer
Volunteers are the life-blood of our Association, and the Conservative Party nationally. From joining socially with the Campaign for Real Ales (CAMRA), to social action on behalf of local charities, to campaigning locally and further afield, Bethnal Green and Bow Conservative Association engages voulenteers on a large variety of issues.
In Bethnal Green and Bow the 2010 London Borough of Tower Hamlets council elections were followed by the election for the executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets and subsequently three council ward by elections: two in Spitalfields and Banglatown (2010 and 2012) and one in Weavers (2012).
Our local activists were crucial in ensuring that national and local Conservative policies were taken to the door steps of residents in our constituency.
Without our activists we cannot campaign for the Conservative alternative for Tower Hamlets of an extra £1.1 million for more police officers on our streets, 1% council tax cut matching Boris Johnson’s London-wide cut, an extra £120,000 to ensure potholes in our roads are fixed quicker and better and an extra £152,000 on English as a Second Language classes to help integrate our communities.
Conservatives against wasteful spending, expensive publicly funded Council propaganda, electoral malpractice and outrageous Mayoral perks were pressed home by local Conservative leafleters and canvassers. Previously we helped force the resignation of a Councillor convicted of benefits fraud.
Our Association holds regular campaign sessions and we hold social events which all members and supporters are welcome to attend.
If you are interested in getting involved with local Conservative campaigns, joining our Association or simply attending our social events, please contact the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman Political or the Deputy Chairman Membership.
